One full week to travel through Piero Della Francesca's beautiful land during the Renaissance between courts, art and flavours. Starting from Milan where a visit to Leonardo da Vinci's Last supper is obligatory, going on with Urbino, Perugia, Sansepolcro, Monterchi and Arezzo, the tour is the occaion to admire the greatest Piero della Francesca's work like the Flagellazione or the Madonna di Senigallia. The last two days of the tour are dedicated to the richness of Florence with the visit to the Galleria degli Uffizi, home of the opera Ritratto dei Duchi di Urbino. Concluding the journey there is the chance to partecipate to a symphonic/chamber music concert, or an opera in one of the many prestigious locations of the City. And for the Opera lovers don't miss the chance to request also your ticket for an unforgettable night at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan or at Teatro del Maggio in Florence.

 


 

Day One: Milan

Arrival in Milan by own means. Welcome drink at the hotel in Milan upon arrival.Décio Ramos Guided visit to Castello Sforzesco and Poldi-Pezzoli Museum. Dinner in a characteristic Milan restaurant. Overnight

Day Two: Milan

Guided visit to Pinacoteca di Brera where the Pala Montefeltro by Piero della Francesca is exposed. Guided visit to Milan’s Duomo, one of the most iconic symbol of the city.
Free lunch.
Guided visit to the Last Supper of Leonardo Da Vinci, located in its original place, on the wall of refectory of the former Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Guided visit and Aperitif to the Vineyard of Leonardo Da Vinci, in front of Santa Maria Delle Grazie. A gift from Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, given to Leonardo in 1498, it’s one of the most significant places about Leonardo in Milan.

Day Three: Milan > Urbino (385 km)

Transfer to Urbino by own means and free lunch.

Guided tour of Urbino: a small town with an outstanding role in art history, having been one of the most creative and admired courts of the Renaissance. Entering the streets and buildings of the old town, it is still possible to notice the perspective perfection that inspired many works by Piero della Francesca, including Flagellazione and Madonna di Senigallia, still hosted inside Palazzo Ducale.
Visit of Palazzo Ducale and the Marche National Gallery, inside the palace.
Visit to the Church of San Bernardino where Federico da Montefeltro was buried. Free dinner and overnight

Day Four: Urbino > Perugia (113 km) > Sansepolcro (68 km) > Monterchi (15 km) > Arezzo (30 km)

Breakfast and transfer to Perugia by own means. Guided tour of Perugia including stops to admire the Etruscan Wall, Oratorio di San Bernardino, Fontana Maggiore, San Lorenzo’s Cathedral and Rocca Paolina.
Guided visit to the Umbria National Gallery, in the ancient Palazzo dei Priori, to admire the Polittico di Sant’Antonio by Piero della Francesca and in the moulding, the Annunciazione. Free lunch.
Transfer to Sansepolcro by own means: this is the hometown of Piero della Francesca, where the artist was born, lived for some time, and died. Guided visit to the Civic Museum, where some masterpieces of Piero are still preserved, such as the Resurrection, the Madonna della Misericordia, San Giuliano and San Ludovico; in these works the harmony of the streets, the elegance of the palaces and inside of the churches are perfectly recreated by the artist. Visit to the village: walk through the middle-ages streets, pass in front of the house where the artist was born and arrive to the Romanic Gothic Cathedral. Transfer to Monterchi by own means and meeting with local guide.
Tour of the village: Monterchi is an intimate middle-ages village in the most hidden and untouched Tuscany, among parish churches and castles, where it is said the mother of Piero della Francesca was born. Here the artist took inspiration and painted life celebration in its highest expression: the Madonna del Parto.

Transfer to Arezzo by own means. Free dinner and overnight.

Day Five: Arezzo > Florence (77 km)

Guided visit to Arezzo starting from the Cathedral (Duomo) where the painting of Maria Maddalena by Piero della Francesca is preserved. Guided visit to the middle-age Cathedral of San Francesco. Here, inside the Bacci Chapel, admire a series of the travelling master’s paintings entitled The Cycle of The True Cross (Il Ciclo della Vera Croce).

Free lunch and transfer to Florence by own means.

Guided visit to Brancacci Chapel, jewel of the Florentian Renaissance, inside the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine where other paintings by Masolino da Panicale and his pupil Masaccio are preserved. Free dinner and overnight.

Day Six: Florence

Guided visit to Galleria degli Uffizi, to discover one of the most important works of the Renaissance and one of the most representative of Piero della Francesca: Ritratto dei Duchi di Urbino (Federico da Montefeltro and his wife Battista Sforza).
Guided tour on the trail of the Medici Family, which had a great role in the history and life of the town, leading you to Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Pitti and Galleria Palatina.
Free lunch and free time. Guided visit to Galleria dell’Accademia to admire Michelangelo’s incredible sculpture David. Aperitif in one of the elegant bars or places in Florence. Overnight.

Day Seven: Florence

Breakfast, end of the tour and departure.
